I got home late-ish after bumping into not one, but two friends in the swimming-pool. Whoever said London was large and unfriendly? One was there training to swim the Bosphorus...yip! That's what I want to do. At last a fun thing, vaguely taxing thing to do that doesn't involve running 26 miles.
I got home ravenous. Mondays are always good as Sunday is market day in Queen's Park so the fridge is always full of food (mainly vegetables unless we're having people for supper). I rootled around and found three beautiful round courgettes, a fennel bulb and a lovely small cucumber. Here they all are...

I got some stock out of the freezer, put a glug of olive oil in the pan and got cooking.

25 minutes later I was eating a delicious, delicious soup that reminded me of the courgette soup Giuseppe made for our wedding. Plenty of grated pecorino, a lug of delicious olive oil (masquerading in an old River Cafe olive oil bottle)

and a few fennel fronds from the top of the fennel and I was as happy as larry. Now to bed and a good book. I'll post the recipe over the next few days. Good night. xxx
TT Fennel is so much cheaper in the markets...and you get the fronds still on which are yummy snipped into salads, onto soups, over bruschettas...
